After more than three decades of teaching middle and high school language arts, Shelley Charity, founder of Lather 'n Lush, began soap-making as a hobby. At first, learning about the properties of common, everyday oils and other natural ingredients was fascinating. And making pretty soaps for family and friends was gratifying, as well. Then, after about a year of numerous testimonials from family and friends about the improvements to their skins' texture, moisturization, and overall appearance, Lather 'n Lush, LLC was born. Now, based on hands-on experience, research and a certification in Female Entrepreneurship from Cornell University, Shelley formulates all-natural recipes that both nourish the skin and fight acne, eczema, wrinkles, and signs of aging.
Lather 'n Lush creates every bar of soap with care and the finest natural oils and butters available, blending unique nature-inspired scents. Each soap is crafted in small batches to ensure premium quality and freshness. Customers also have the opportunity to create their own custom fragrance, which sets this company apart from others. What began as a hobby for a retired educator has grown into a handcrafted soap brand dedicated to clean beauty, sustainability, and honest craftsmanship.

Why Use Essential Oils?
Essential oils in all-natural soap provide aromatherapy for mood enhancement, therapeutic skin benefits to fight bacteria and inflammation, and act as plant-derived, non-toxic fragrances, creating a healthy, holistic, and “customizable” bathing experience. That is why Lather ‘n Lush offers you an opportunity to make the aroma of your daily bathing experience entirely “your own.”
How To Create Your Custom Order
Step 1
Think about what you want your soap to do for you. Do you want it to relax your mood, reduce skin irritation/inflammation, or simply turn your bathroom into a spa each morning? YOU ARE IN CONTROL!
Step 2
You will then select either filtered water or goat milk for your soap. Goat milk has many benefits including deep moisturization, gentle cleansing, soothing exfoliation, and creamy lather for sensitive skin.
Step 3
Next, select one or two essential oils (for a total of one ounce) to be added to a loaf of our gentle soap we call Old Faithful. We call it that because it gently moisturizes and conditions, without fail, each and every time. You will make your selection from a list of categorized oils.
Step 4
Determine whether you will have one full ounce of only one scent
OR CHOOSE BETWEEN
two oils with one-half ounce each or
two oils with one dominant ¾ oz. and the other with a hint of ¼ oz. of oil.
Step 5
Name Your Soap. What title will be printed on the wrapper? Remember, this is your batch of soap, and you can name it virtually anything. For example, “Nancy’s Rosemary, Goat Milk & Orange Bar.”
Step 6
After you have purchased your soap, you will be contacted by email to verify your selections, and to make any necessary adjustments. You will be contacted again, four weeks later, to inform you that your personalized soap is on its way.
How Much Does Custom Soap Cost?
The Lather 'n Lush soap bars leave my skin feeling very moisturized. I also enjoy my daily spa moments in the shower or bath, which I deserve.
